About My Journey
“When I was a child, I dreamed of being a professional photographer. As an adult, I made my dream come true.
My purpose is to help others who share that same dream, make their dreams come true as well.”
Michael Newcomb
When I was 16 I got my first job in the photography industry as a chemical mixer in a photo lab. At 19 I joined the Air Force and became an Air Force photographer. After leaving the Air Force I worked in an advertising studio in Hollywood.
Later I moved to southern Oregon where I did some freelance photography for newspapers while trying to find a job in photography. I looked for opportunities to work for studios or labs, but no opportunities were available as most photography studios were small mom-and-pop operations.
I decided to start my own portrait photography business out of my home in Grants Pass, Oregon. I grew my business and continued doing photography full-time in southern Oregon for over 30 years. I also taught photography classes through the years
Today I enjoy doing some travel photography as well as writing and teaching photography classes. I have recently begun making instructional videos which will be available online soon.
